Kendriya vidyalayas are composite co-educational institutions established in 1963 under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan, an autonomous body under the Government of India. About 1100 Kendriya Vidyalayas with a staff of 38,919 and 9,54,551 students , are spread across the entire length and breadth of the country with a few based aboard to cater to the educational needs of transferable Central Govt. employees and all other categories.
